The article provides guidelines on how to design, implement and sustain internal knowledge market as a way for large organizations to address the challenges of managing information flows internally. It defines internal knowledge market as protected environments where users trade their knowledge by price mechanisms. Some valuable uses of information markets by companies are discussed, including forecasting via prediction markets, problem solving through innovation markets and idea genesis and evaluation via idea markets. Results of a study of the costs and benefits of traditional versus market-based approaches to knowledge management are provided.
