Despite high demand, their growth and effectiveness have been low due to insufficient resources and systemic inefficiencies. Given the unique challenges of the Indian setting, Professor Lavanya Marla and her co-authors highlight the need to bring EMS systems into public policy discussions and develop novel, interdisciplinary solutions to design and operational issues.
