Product innovation is an integral part of market development. Many new products arrive at the market place. Quite a few of the new products arriving at the market place do not attract interest from the market participants because there is no value addition to the existing competing products or due to erroneous product design. Market participants, therefore, try out the new product to see how it would fit into their business model. The objective of this paper is to find out how product innovation has been happening in the money market and whether it has helped in the improvement of market efficiency in India. In particular, products like CBLO and the new trading system NDS-OM are examined to understand if these new products/systems have helped in reshaping the market.
