The case of Scooters India Ltd. (SIL) has brought forth the problems faced by public sector undertakings (PSUs) in India and searches for possible solutions for their revival. The broad issues considered are the turnaround strategy for a PSU and whether privatization is the only solution. For diagnosis of the case, we look at four important parameters, viz. marketing, finance, person-nel; and other issues.
