520 _aThe article discusses innovative management practices in hospital construction projects. An examination is given the impact of Great Britain's National Health Service's (NHS's) infrastructure innovation program. To stimulate investment, forms of public-private partnership (PPP) are being introduced. The authors examine the PFI (Private Finance Initiative) PPP model, a funding mechanism for English hospitals used in England since 1977. Also discussed is whether PFI can stimulate innovations which will reduce the risk of future obsolescence in hospitals and how PFI will affect innovative strategic planning in hospital schemes.
