TY - SER AU - Sachdeva, Mitima TI - Celebrating the spirit of Special Education through Inclusive Education - A Case Study PY - 0000/// CY - PB - KW - Special Children KW - Inclusive Education N2 - Article 41 and 45 in the constitution of India advocates free, compulsory and universal elementary education, which is currently implemented through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA). Under the Right to Education Act (RTE- 2009), free and compulsory education is a national mandate for children of 6-14 years of age, including children with special needs. This has revolutionized the concept of inclusive Education for people with disability. The SSAhas also provisions for its own inclusive education and resource teachers to ensure the inclusion of children with special needs in the regular schools. India being a signatory to UN Convention on Rights to Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), all the programmes such as Human Resource development, Research and Development services and other activities are all being designed to meet the mandate of mainstreaming the persons with disabilities. This paper would attempt to discuss the genesis of Inclusive Education in the light of Inclusive Schools which are trying to mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well being of, persons with disabilities ER -
